What a headline. https://mmajunkie.usatoday.com/2021...ield-steps-in-vs-vitor-belfort-triller-bxoing Holyfield is 58-years old and hasn't fought in ten years. He had been rumoured to be fighting Kevin McBride in June of this year but that bout didn't happen when the Lopez vs. Kambosos card was postponed until October. Perhaps Holyfield has been in training? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teófimo_López_vs._George_Kambosos_Jr.
According to his Wikipedia article, Holyfield went broke in 2012, and although he makes over a million dollars a year doing personal appearances, much of that is likely garnished due to things like unpaid child support and money owed in taxes and to collectors.
If he needs a quick payday he should fight Tyson...that's the big draw I'd think for him but at his age he better not get clocked too many times
Seems like a near certainty he will, supposing he can wade through this fight with Belfort. Tyson is also rumoured to be re-matching Lennox Lewis in the near future.
Lennox Lewis is a giant....guess we can thank George Foreman for the senior tour in boxing these days...
Tyson and Holyfield tried to make something happen. Rumor was that Holyfield's camp was being damn near impossible to negotiate with in terms of $$$. This is just weird. I'm happy for Vitor, though. I thought Fishnet Boy was going to slaughter him.
James Toney is coming out of retirement to box Jeremy Williams on October 23rd. The flood gates are open and every retired boxer or MMA personality is coming out for a match.
