FUCK ESPN !!! Yesterday they forgot Dame on the Graphic of Players who made fastest 100 3pointers and Lillard had the fucking RECORD with 44 Games and now they apologizes fuck espn
But serious man, Lillard had the Record with 44 Games and they forget him. Unbelievable how they Sleep in him
Big deal. They forgot those other guys too. They put players up there that the average fan would recognize. They didn't put Covington, Rudy etc as well. WOuldn't be as interesting of a graphic. Wanted to show the greats that didn't even do that.
13 posts on this subject are in the Around the NBA thread. A moderator either needs to merge this thread to there, or transfer those posts to this thread. This is like the Rockets-Clippers near-fight. I spent a half-hour researching some posts in that thread, then Sly moved them to a new thread and it took off. A mod must estimate whether a new combined thread will generate new posts. These guys are skilled about crowd behavior, probably enough to have day jobs in the CIA provoking foreign riots. We're just their guinea pigs.
So where's Wilt? I mentioned it in the other thread, he still hasn't made his 100th 3-pointer (but probably still holds the record for fastest to reach 100 3-ways). BNM
Exactly. Makes breaking that record not as special huh? It's purely because of the way the game has changed. Look at how few 3s Bird took and made. If he played in todays' game, holy shit.
I love Dame so don't take this the wrong way but, in terms of "greatest shooters of all time" (which is what that list was trying to illustrate), Dame just is not that high up on that list. He's shooting ~34-35% from three this year and like 37% for his career when the league average is 36%. It's easy to see why he was overlooked when you know his shooting numbers are simply not that great.
They were stretching to try to make Markkanen's "record" seem more significant than it is. It's not like Michael Jordan was one of the all time great 3-point shooters. His career 3FG% is .327 and he made a total of 58 three pointers in his first five NBA seasons combined. As far as Dame's shooting, he shot .368 3FG% his rookie year. Markkanen is currently at .375. Not much difference. What would be more interesting would be fewest 3FGA to reach 100 made 3-pointers. That would separate the great shooters from the high volume shooters. Unfortunately, a list of names like Hubert Davis, Steve Novak, Jason Kopono, Tim Legler, etc. isn't nearly as impressive. Laurrie Markkanen: he took a lot of 3-pointers and he made some of them faster than anybody in NBA history. His "record" will be lucky to last two years. But hey, he's a "greater" shooter than Steph Curry, Ray Allen, Dirk Nowitski, Reggie Miller and Michael Jordan. BNM
You at least put the guy up who's record was broken. What's gonna happen when someone ever gets 31 ast in a game? They'll say they beat Skiles record. It is a big deal. Fuck ESPN.
Just comparing stats for 3 point shooting by themselves doesn’t say much about shooting ability. Guys who stand in a corner beyond the arc and wait for someone to pass them the ball so they can catch and shoot an open shot don’t compare to guys who can come hard around a pick and quickly get off a shot. Guys who can shoot with range like Curry and Dame are in a different category.
Totally agree, just like Dame's when it was his or Curry when it was his. Dame is a good shooter he's just not Curry, Allen, Dirk, good.
