The first concrete slab on which Dallas Cowboys fans will be sitting in the new stadium was poured Tuesday. Crews continue to install underground utilities to prepare the southwest quadrant of the stadium for more concrete ?slabs on grade.? The slabs will hold the seats in the level closest to the field. ?In the next 30 days, you?ll see a lot of floor area being poured and you?ll see the start of the first elevated floor slabs that will be the start of the suite levels,? construction manager Jack Hill said Wednesday. Hill said that the excavation of 1.5 million cubic yards of dirt is completed and that the bowl?s floor is now 50 feet below the site level. About 250 crew members work on the site each day, but that number will probably increase as more construction bid packages are contracted out, he said. About 70 smaller bid packages are left, with the large mechanical and electrical bid packages still to be awarded. - By the numbers - 54 cubic yards of concrete were poured Tuesday for the first slab in the southwest quadrant of the stadium. - 150 cubic yards of concrete will be poured this week for the second slab. - 70 construction bid packages are left to bid out to contractors for the stadium project. - About 100 concrete pillars have been erected on the site.</div> This is going to be a long 3 years.
