http://sportstwo.com/NBA/WeeklyNotes WHAT TO WATCH FOR: The emergence of one of the NBA's best all-around players, Brandon Roy. The skilled guard has led the Portland Trail Blazers to 10 straight wins, showcasing his all-round game in the process. Roy is averaging 19.1 points, 5.6 assists and 4.4 rebounds this campaign. However, it did not start out so promising far the sixth overall pick in the 2006 draft, who scored no more than 13 points over five contests from November 23-December 2 - a stretch when Portland lost four of five. In the the final loss in that string, a 100-79 drubbing against the San Antonio Spurs on December 2, Roy scored four points on a dismal 1-of-9 shooting. But one night later, the reigning Rookie of the Year collected 26 points, nine rebounds and seven assists in a 106-105 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies - a win capped by a buzzer-beater by Travis Outlaw - starting the 10-game streak. Roy since has been on fire, averaging 23.6 points, 6.8 assists and 5.5 rebounds during the amazing winning streak - proving himself as one of the league's most versatile talents. Hall of Fame point guard Magic Johnson, an analyst on TNT's Inside the NBA and one of the game's consummate do-it-all performers, said it himself after Roy had 25 points, nine rebounds and eight assists in a win over the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday. "Brandon Roy is one of the top three all-around players in the NBA right now," Johnson proclaimed on the TNT broadcast. Enough said.
Brandon Roy??? according to Magic is a better all-around player than all these guys except for 2: Tim Duncan, KG, Wade, Dirk, Nash, Lebron, Kobe, Tmac, etc.?
Magic's evaluation is based upon what he saw with his own two eyes on the court. I think he's seen those other guys
Wow, this is pretty surprising. Seems as if they're giving Roy way too much props - what about the fine job McMillan has done coaching? He deserves just as much praise as Roy.
Roy is the glue that holds Portland together. His time in the lime light is coming. He is going to have two nice big men to play with and more help coming from Europe.
