For Florida Marlins' Clay Hensley, it's a relief not to be a starting pitcher

"Clay Hensley collected a save Saturday.

But he won't be the Marlins' closer once the season starts. That role belongs to Leo Nuñez.

Then again, here-today-gone-tomorrow job assignments are nothing new for the 31-year-old pitcher, who thought he had sewn up a spot in the starting rotation around this time a year ago only to see it slip from his grasp when the Marlins traded for left-hander Nate Robertson on the eve of the season.

"It's weird how it all went," Hensley said.

    Weird, but also wonderful.

For, in the course of making a successful transition from a career starter to set-up reliever, Hensley might have found a niche that is not only suited to his 5-11, 190-pound frame, but could keep him pitching in the major leagues longer than he might have otherwise as a starter."
