Milwaukee Bucks rookie point guard T.J. Ford is expected to have surgery to address the bruised spinal cord that has sidelined him since February.

"That's always been an option," Ford said Thursday. "In a couple of more days we'll be able to release something, we'll be able to talk more about it."

"Anytime you deal with the spine, you have to be concerned about the long-term prognosis," Bucks GM Larry Harris said. "But the good thing we've gotten back from all the diagnoses from spine specialists throughout the country is this is not a career-ending type of injury. I feel very confident by Oct. 1 he'll be playing again."
