Batum is a lot longer, but yeah, I can see that. That's probably his baseline, and I can definitely be satisfied with that.
One of the announcers just said "Spiderman!" in a French accent when Batum pulled off a nasty block. I like it.
Turiaf is just such a nice guy (helping Hervelle up). I second Roy's suggestion we pursue him. I just don't know if it should be for Outlaw, but I wouldn't be opposed to it.
It's funny to see the battle between current and ex Laker big-men scrubs in Turiaf vs. Mbenga. France seem to be doing a decent job in bottling up Hervelle who has been Belgium's star in qualifying. Is that Diaw's doing? [And just as I say that he gets a backdoor and-one...]
Mbenga is looking pretty good. I like how Batum never dominates the ball. He drives, he shoots or he passes. He never just holds it or dribbles.
Man, I don't know why this thread isn't more active. This game is a hell of a lot more fun and competitive than Summer League, and it's actually starring a player who will be a starter for us next year.
Damn. I just got in. Box: http://live.fibaeurope.com/netcasting/default.asp?game_number=6378-1-Aµsite_scope=undefined Nic only has 5 points. How has his defense been?
Yikes - not looking good for France... They look pretty lost on offense, and Parker just isn't able to take over like you think he should. I would argue he's been outplayed by the Belgian guards. And France's lack of 3-point shooting is really hurting them.
Batum dives on the floor, knocks over the Belgian player - and nothing is called! Who says Europe isn't as tough as the NBA? Jesus France, HIT AN OUTSIDE SHOT!
Parker clangs another three... Mbenga throws up a wild shot on the other end... Parker races downcourt and gets fouled. France still down 6 in the 4th. Now 5. Now 4.
Getting a bit wild - Batum could be credited with 2 steals there, but Belgium could complain about non-calls.
