At least he didn't have to coach the team in their 17th straight loss, so he doesn't have that dubious title associated with him. Honestly though, I'm shocked it didn't happen sooner. Coaches are always the scapegoats when things aren't going right, and this was no exception.
He's definitely a scapegoat. The Nets came into this season with one the league's weaker rosters and injuries have absolutely decimated that. There's only so much coaching can do. I think anyone who wasn't considered in the top-tier of NBA coaches or who didn't have a significant contract would have been fired by the Nets.
