<h3>Sakic leads Avalanche into matchup with Flames</h3>

DENVER (Ticker) -- The Colorado Avalanche will try to winback-to-back games for the first time this season when they hostthe Calgary Flames on Tuesday.


Joe Sakic scored once in the first period and twice in the thirdon Saturday, registering the 15th hat trick of his career, asthe Avalanche routed the Columbus Blue Jackets, 5-1, in theirlast contest.


The Avalanche captain has four goals and an assist on the seasonand is one hat trick shy of breaking Peter Stastny's franchiserecord.


Another Stastny, Paul, has also helped Colorado in the scoringdepartment. The sensational sophomore has five goals and fiveassists on the season and is tied for third among all NHLscorers.


During his rookie season, Stastny scored 28 goals and 50 assists- including eight tallies and four helpers against the Flamesas the Avalanche took the final four meetings against theirNorthwest Division rivals.


While Colorado is looking for consecutive wins, Calgary will begunning for its third straight victory. The Flames won gamesagainst the Nashville Predators and Dallas Stars over theweekend, outscoring their opponents 10-6.


The Flames were 4-for-16 on the power play last season inColorado. They will have to produce on special teams if theyare going to skate away with a win, as the Avalanche are aperfect 3-0 at the Pepsi Center this season.
