    WASHINGTON (Ticker) -- The Washington Capitals conclude afour-game homestand when they take on the Vancouver Canucks onFriday.


    Washington scored more than three goals for the first time allseason on Wednesday, snapping a four-game losing streak with a5-3 victory over Tampa Bay.


    The Capitals hope the offense continues, but must improve on apower play that ranks 28th in the league. Washington has onlyscored on four of its 39 chances with the man advantage.

    Alex Ovechkin had a goal and two assists in the victory over theLightning and leads the team with five goals and nine points.

    Washington goaltender Olaf Kolzig is 3-2-0 with a 2.42goals-against average this season.


    Vancouver has lost four of its last five games and is concludinga four-game road trip.


    The Canucks are led by the Sedins - Henrik and Daniel - who arethe top two scorers on the team and have combined for six goalsand 19 points.


    Roberto Luongo has struggled lately in net for Vancouver,compiling a 3-6-0 record with a 3.01 goals-against average. The28-year-old has lost his last four starts but has a 2.14 GAA in28 career games against Washington.


    The Capitals are 2-6-1 in the last nine meetings with theCanucks, with both wins coming in overtime. Washington has notbeaten Vancouver in regulation since March 28, 1998.
