Ok this is what I've heard. Grizzlies want their first round pikc back so they want to trade Gasol to the Pistons. One of my friends says it's almost a done deal. Personally I like Grizzlies very much and I don't like this trade. What Grizzlies want is their first pick and they want to trade of them their great young PF's (Gooden and Gasol) For Grizzlies first round pick I would maybe trade Gooden but not Pau. I really like him,I really his bball style so I wouldn't trade him....... If that trade happens I think Pistons could even be champs. Here is their line up (if trade happens) PG Billups SG Rip SF Barry PF Gasol C Big Ben Bench Williamson Atkins Cliff They would be the best team on the East side. What I forgot to mention is that Grizzlies would get their first pick and Rebraca. Their line up if that trade happens Jay Will Giricek Shane Battier Gooden Wright Bench Person Dickerson...lol Swift Rebraca Personally I don't like this trade but imagine.....Melo as a Grizzlie
Hey imagine melo as a piston cause that trade is not going to happen and detroit will keep the grizzlies first round pick. Cliff is doing a good job starting. And Curry is playing sf right now. And why disrupt the chemistry when the pistons are doing fine right now.
I've heard this deal many times before, and as a Pistons fan, I love it. I don't think it will happen though. The Pistons have the pick if it's not #1. I don't see West trading away his best player until he sees where the pick is. If he didn't wait, he could end up trading Gasol away, then getting the top pick which would have been his anyway, so it'd be a Gasol for Zelly swap. Something could happen once the season's over, after they find out the draft order, but for now, it's not going to happen.
The deal would DEFINITELY have to include Cliff Robinson however...his expiring contract would be a huge incentive for Jerry West to give up his best player (by giving him a shot at signing M.Olowakandi)....Also, it will depend on where the ping-pong balls fall...if the Grizz win the Lebron Lottery, the deal will never go through. Likewise, if the Grizzlies get screwed and end up with a pick higher than 6, they won't give up Pau for a lower pick. So I say if after the lottery, Detroit is sitting at 2-5 the deal goes down.... Cliff RObinson Memphis' Old Pick future 2nd rounder (cap matching fill-ins) for Pau Gasol (cap matching fill-ins).
Though I suppose if Detroit ends up with #2 or 3 pick, they may keep it and draft Darko Milic or Carmelo Anthony and pick up a potential franchise player.
But if they get Gasol, they would. Cliffy has been vitally important, but we have to admit he's getting up there. It wouldn't be fair to keep him to play garbage minutes behind Gasol.
