The health issue that nixed the Ronnie Brown-Jerome Harrison trade between the Detroit Lions and Philadelphia Eagles is Harrison's brain tumor, according to a tweet by ESPN's Adam Schefter this afternoon. The Lions did not confirm the report.

"Without trade, Jerome Harrison doesn't get physical. Without physical, doctors don't find brain tumor. Trade might have saved his life,” Schefter tweeted.

ESPN reported Wednesday night that the Lions’ trade of Harrison and a 2013 draft pick to the Eagles for Brown was voided because of a health issue surrounding Harrison. The Lions confirmed only that the deal fell through, and Harrison’s agent, Mitch Frankel, did not return a message from the Free Press.

The Lions expected the 29-year-old Brown to provide insurance for injured Jahvid Best and a more physical presence in the backfield.

Free Press beat writer Dave Birkett will answer your Lions questions in a live chat at 3 p.m. Friday at freep.com/sports. Then come back Sunday afternoon as special writer Nick Meyer live-blogs the Lions-Falcons game.
