We're in the last month of the reg season and the bill has already arrived. I can't envision the Yanks taking this division without winning AT LEAST 90 games AND Toronto cooling off a bit. Obviously if the Jays continue their pace of the last six weeks or so - it becomes more of a case of them earning it than the Yanks "choking" it away. Stranger things have certainly happened and there are 30 more games left but the WC game is beginning to look bigger every day. One game, hopefully at Yankee Stadium - two scenarios: A very disappointing crushing loss - or, A new beginning with a ticket to the tournament. Would prefer to win the division but maybe it's the Yankees turn to make some noise as a Wild Card team. It's never over 'till it's over. Go Yanks!
It would be nice to avoid the one game and out scenario. They blew a big chance to gain a game last night.
I believe this team, players , have enough to go very deep , I believe ownership just doesn't care enough ! Anything is possible at the moment , so glass is half full for me...
My fear division wise is that Toronto just has too much fire power. With Tex out that's your top offensive player this season out while in Toronto you have their sluggers on a tear. But seven games left with Toronto so this thing is a long way from over.
at this point, let toronto play it out, remember the leafs at the beginning of season, and where they ended up? no team can keep this up, we're good!
Cashman just said that there's a chance that Tex may not play again this season. Not really what you want to hear but yes it has to play out.
vets know when to turn it on and pick it up for a teammate, we just need to get there, and if its the WC, sobeit, thats freekin very exciting
It's certainly better than being out of it. Just completely annoyed we lose Tex on some stupid freak injury.
The Yankees don't have that shut down pitcher. Who you'd trust to open up a series, or to pitch that decisive game 7. For next season the Yankees need to find that guy.

me im crazy!!! i would throw serevino at em, kids got great poise and the hitters are not familiar with him, the conservative side of me, i would go with pineda... tanaka would have been 1st choice, but he has not been himself... and then there is 14-2 eovaldi who has the best stuff in BB, ?????

Yeah Eovaldi seriously? that 14-2 record is largely based on having the 2nd highest run support in the league at over 7 RPG. Then there's his 4.20 ERA.
Tanaka and/or Pineda are quite capable of throwing a "good" game, imo. Will they do it? I guess that's why they play the games.....we'll see. Oops, almost forgot- we haven't clinched anything yet.
Come playoff time, everything depends on the opposition pitching, which will be very good to excellent......... and herein lies the answer, these Yankees have a difficult time beating such pitching. We all know that at best the Yankee starting pitchers can be good, but never consistently very good. Approaching these playoffs, I see the glass half empty. But then again, the best teams in the league sometimes do not make it to the World Series. We shall see. (I'd prefer the Yankees winning the division.....to be more hopeful.)
I could be wrong but I think the Yanks have done pretty well vs individual good pitchers this year and the trend had them struggling against mediocre pitchers who they weren't familiar with.
