Me and My husband are making a Roasted Turkey Breast, Sweet Corn, Brown Gravy, seasoned Stuffing and Biscuits with Cannoli's for Desert of course I'm sure Ron is going to have a Feast. I know it's a few days away but I love The Holidays.
I will be there. Although my Parachuting License has expired, I will be jumping Mary Poppins style via an Umbrella...
Oh yeah, we're gonna have our annual family reunion/pre-thanksgiving bash this coming Sunday...and me and Dreamboat Annie are going down to Fla to spend T-giving with Mom on Thursday...we'll leave Tuesday. Hope everyone here has a great holiday and acknowledges how truly lucky we are.
How's your Mom doing these days Ron? Well, I hope. I enjoyed the emails you shared and posted from Her, a few times. I always thought: I wish my Mom (when she was alive) had the humor yours does...
Thanx for asking, Matts. Mom is as sharp as ever at 86. At her age she still mows her own grass, does her own house work, cooks her own meals, still drives herself around and never had a wreck even driving in metro Orlando, still manages to spend a lot of time being involved with church activities, still writes letters with the prettiest cursive handwriting you've ever seen, and of course, surfs the net and sends me either religious/spiritual messages or raunchy jokes nearly every day. And I've gotta believe her secret is staying so active. That's why both her mind and body are in such good shape...incredible woman.
Wow, that's great to hear. No doubt her secret is staying active; everything you mentioned i.e. mowing her own grass, housework, cooks, et al., its very very impressive for her age, as you know. Being active keeps her young. My Mom passed in 013, and Dad passed Oct 21, 2018. Both were active up until their last year. Dad was 84 and lasted another 5 yrs beyond Mom. Dad had a horrid case of Alzheimer's, one of the hardest of things to deal with. He gave in and wouldn't budge from his recliner; and his days were numbered from thereon out. Both had Pacemakers which kept 'em moving like Energizer bunnies until their last year. Mom like Dad kinda laid down and gave in, sticking to her rocking chair. Both had "Meals on Wheels"; although I cooked my ass of for both. What's odd are the things, questions only they could answer, which arise after their gone; even tho' I turned as many stones over or pieces of their lives over before they departed. Even then, the questions arise again and again...
As George H.W. Bush once stated one has two choices be active or go in the corner and drool. Those seniors who stay active and in the game are very positive influences on us "younger" seniors. Keep on keeping on, I'm right there with you.
Happy Thanksgiving to all. I’m thankful I get to breath a new day. Can’t wait for the treats on this day.
Thanks Stamp don't forget I have a Brat that eats anything and he is only 4 so I will have to cook vegetables, Mashed Potatoes, and Puree The Turkey he is a big boy .
I'm gonna bake an elusive; delectable delicious Spam Roast. I flippin' despise Spam as much as a shit sammich, tho' I've never had the latter. Think I will write a cookbook '101 Ways to cook, prepare and serve Spam'; to the dog...
too salty and too reminiscent of dog food... I haven't had Spam since I was a kid, other than the Spam I get in my email.
