KAT speculation has hit big this weekend. How can the Trail Blazers get in?

Karl-Anthony Towns trade suggestions are swirling across the internet this morning, thanks in part to a Bleacher Report piece lifting a line fromZach Lowe’s podcast in which ESPN commentator Brian Windhorst made the comment that all is not well between Towns and the Minnesota Timberwolves and that “it wouldn’t be unheard of” if Towns’ name surfaced in trade talk eventually.

That set-up should tell you how tenuous these trade suggestions are, BUT...they make for good discussion on a mid-May Saturday, SO...

Let’s say the Timberwolves were really looking to trade Towns (they shouldn’t) and the Trail Blazerswere in contention to make an offer (they won’t be, because the Boston Celtics exist). How would you feel about this trade?

Blazers send: CJ McCollum, Zach Collins, 24th pick in 2018 NBA Draft

    Timberwolves send: Karl-Anthony Towns

As a Portland fan, would you be enthusiastic, cautious, repulsed? How would you adjust it and/or what would you give to see KAT in a Blazers uniform? Weigh in below.

Would they want CJ when they have Butler, Teague and wiggins?

I will say no to any trade if we give up Zach Collins in it. He could be our only Bad Mother****er. Has to stay.

So essentially we would be trading CJ, Zach, a #1, and.......Nurk. Minnesota fans would not see it that way, but in reality why would we sign Nurk if we got KAT. Hard to say if that is a good trade until we know who is at 24, but I doubt that makes us better because it does not address our weaknesses...and creates others.

If we throw a package out like that for a player, I would prefer to do it for an elite wing rather than a center.

    Not really interested in KAT.
    He's not even KG lite.
Sure he puts up numbers, and is extremely good in fantasy.
But I'd rather have an athletic Center who is defensive first. Than KAT.

Thibs is probably the best defensive coordinator in the league but he's failed as a head coach...no people skills..like Stan Van Gundy and Doc Rivers, he yells to much...has walking laryngitis...I've heard Budholzer is like that as well. Towns has had issues in the past too...club confrontations, etc...no thanks.

Well there goes our chances at a sign and trade with cleveland for Lebron.

Seriously though, I see potential at times in Collins, but people talk like he's gonna be Anthony Davis in a few years. He's not even close. In Portland we've built him up a lot as this young guy who's gonna be really good someday, but he was barely a blip on the radar nationally, all the "top rookie's" of the year stuff no one mentions Collins.
He might pan out, he might not. He's still a long ways away though.

While I agree KAT is already a bad mother****er. I think in the long run it'd hurt us if Zach really does become a bad mother****er because we'd have given CJ up too.

Edit: Thought the forum censored it...guess it doesn't haha

I still think the Blazers go after Whiteside.

I think it’s because when Duncan was there, Duncan took the crap, the younger players don’t react to it as well.

Why though? He couldn't see minutes in the playoffs and the tendencies that had him out of the league started to show big time when he wasn't getting his way. He is a good defensive big but is a very bad passer, can't shoot and is not great at switches that require him to move away from the basket and at the age of 28 he is making huge amounts of money for a style of D that the league is shifting away from.

Plus, just because one coach is successful with it doesn't mean others will. Popovich has won the rings to get more respect, but Thibs reminds me of a PJ Carlisimo type who tends to wear on you after awhile and players start tuning out.

No. KAT has been playing more frequently at PF and is more effective playing that position as well. Not gonna happen but in this hypothetical in which you already traded Collins you then keep Nurk and run them side by side.

Bro KAT is P-good. He can at the very least do everything Nurk can, but most he does better. I’m a big Nurk fan, but I think KAT’s ceiling is higher, and he is more likely to get there.

Rather have KAT at the 5 and Collins at the 4(trade Nurk). My god, that lineup could be amazing if Collins is able to come out and show that he deserves to be in future all Star talks.
