Atlanta came into last night's game with a last second win under their belts. Shareef Abdur-Rahim ended MJ's last visit to Atlanta with a last .6 second buzzer shot that pretty much killed the Wizards' playoff hopes. Then they ran into the Grizzlies, a team who had beat them previously in Memphis by a whooping 124-92 score. The Hawks have never lost to the Grizzlies at home. Here came former Hawks coach Hubie Brown and his improved Grizzlies coming off a one point loss to the Lakers. Although the Hawks were officially eliminated from the playoffs after the Bucks beat the Cavs, they look to play spoilers to some teams coming up.

In the first quarter, the Hawks came off to a slow start losing by a score of 9-2 at one point. They came back fast though from some great shooting by Dion Glover (20 points) and some great defense by Theo Ratliff (6 blocks). The Hawks showed that they wanted to win this game after they went up 15-13. Shareef and Terry started getting into the mix and the Hawks were well on their way to a win. The Hawks lead 24-21 after one quarter.

The Hawks put together another great quarter and ended it by a last second three pointer by Jason "Jet" Terry. The Hawks outscored the Grizzlies 27-21 in the second quarter.

In the third the Hawks pulverized the Grizz. An ally-oop from JT to Glover started the big run. After another dunk by Glover, Theo Ratliff rejected a attempted dunk by Stromile Swift and the Hawks were off and running. The Hawks' transition game was unbelievable as they bursted out to a 21 point lead. Theo Ratliff blocked every shot that came in his way and Atlanta sustained the lead for a while. The Grizzlies would not fold though. Even after a tough loss the night before they started their way back with the play of Pau Gasol and Earl Watson. Ira Newble (15 points) shot the ball well and provided some good defense for the Grizzlies. Atlanta outscored the Grizzlies 32-22 in the third quarter.

In the 4th the Hawks went up by 15 but Memphis came back and cut the lead down to eight. Dion Glover then knocked down a clutch three pointer as the shot clock expired to put the high flying Hawks back up by eleven. The Grizzlies then made a three and Glover made another jumper. The Grizzlies then went on a 4-0 run but JT (23 points, 6 boards, 7 assists) and Shareef Abdur-Rahim (19 points, 4 assists, 7 boards) followed their run up with some jumpers and pretty much closed it out. The Hawks went on to win their second in a row 97-91.
