    What a douche.

Totally screwed the entire NBA by giving Kobe a player like Pau.

He seriously asks who is ripping the Garnett trade?

    1. I am!

    2. I don't see an Al Jefferson anywhere on your roster, pal.

Excuse me but Gasol was on the market for two years. No GM wanted to step up and take the luxury hit, or didn't have the kind of expiring contracts the Grizz wanted. It is their fault and a perfect storm for LA; which they took advantage of.

Yup, the Bulls and I think the Nets didn't want luxury tax, to bad Pau is soft. [IMG]

If we knew it would take Jason Collins and Antoine Wright, I'm sure we would have done it.

I just can't believe the Grizzlies didn't want Aaron Gray!

Those expiring contracts still don't amount to what LA offered. LA also threw in some picks and players with potential.

Chicago did not want to pay tax and wanted to throw in radioactive contracts, from the sources I've heard.

Link? Although I think it is quite possible, but LA had one of the better deals out there.

We don`t know how many teams the Grizz GM contacted or what trades he turned down. To match Gasol`s 13.7 mill, the other team has to have at least 10.5 mill involved in the trade. My guess is that he didn`t contact enough teams, or screwed up something lol.

The teams that had expiring contracts were:
    1. Washington had Antawn Jamison at 16 mill
    2. Celtics had Ratliff at 12 mill
    3. Miami had JW at 9 mill.
    4. Miami had Ricky Davis also at 7 mill.
    5. Spurs had Kurt Thomas at 8 mill. (TD + Pau...) (or Elson + Brent Barry before the KT trade)
    6. Orlando had Arroyo and Garrity at a total of 8 mill, and Dooling at 3.6 mill (Dwight + Pau ....)
    7. Nets had Magloire (4 mill), and Nachbar (2.5 mill) + throw in 4 mill of young contracts- prior to Kidd trade it would have been
(Kidd, Carter, RJ, S. Williams or Boone, Gasol)
    8. Dallas had Diop (young center) + KVH (6.8 mill and add in Brandon Bass, Jose Barea, and picks) (Damp, Dirk, Pau, Josh Howard, Terry, Stack)
    9. GoldenState had Pietrus, Barnes, and POB for a total of 8.8 mill who are all young and expiring. Pau imo would be a perfect fit for Nellie as he can play center and is athletic and can run the floor. (Baron, Monta, SJax, Harrington, Pau)

Now that is 9 trades, and doesn`t include the options available from all of the previous year`s expiring contracts. As well if Memphis wanted a better trade and wanted more potential trades available if they would take on a contract that doesn`t expire this year but the next.

Did these teams also want to give up two first rounders and pay up?

I think with that included, their options weren't as large as advertised.

blah can't find the link, but it waz something like #3 pick/Josh Childress and Zaza pachulia I think

Memphis didn't want to do it cause they wanted to pair Horford up with Gasol, and thought the hawks would pass on him.

Two first rounders at about 28 isn`t worth much.

Well the Lakers gave up Kwame Brown, J-Critt, and two really late first rounders. The 2008 is the number 28 pick, and the 2010 pick will most likely also be a 25-30 pick.

Dallas definitely would have as they gave up the number 21 pick this year, and most likely a better pick in 2010, add in Brandon Bass and Diop (expiring and young) with KVH, and IMO that`s a clearly a much better trade than the Lakers. They could probably get it done without Bass and include someone else, as they are including better picks and Diop who is a young center.

    Dallas would have:
    Devin Harris
    StackHouse
    George
    Dirk
    Gasol

with Dampiere, Josh Howard, Terry all coming off the bench.

It`s also less than what Dallas had to give up for Kidd.
