I think (and hope) we're not going to pay him what he's worth this summer, because he's at the top of his career arc and will get his big payday. So if you're thinking hard about the 2018-2019 season (Lillard/CJ's peak season), you probably move him to a win-now team for picks and an anchor contract.
For me, if he is not traded, that means Olshey has got some assurance he wants to stay with Portland, and that's good, I like him.
yeah as long as he reasonable in his demands, we have Crabbe to sign as well and this summer I think we are going to see some real overpaying and bad contracts
I have a bad feeling we're going to end up using all of our cap space re-signing guys like Henderson, Meyers, and Crabbe and not bringing in any difference makers, that along with no draft pick isn't optimal...
Crabbe has a very small cap hold. We can sign him after spending all our other money this summer and go over the cap to do it.
Define overpaying? It might be that we all think they are over paid, but in reality it is the NEW going rate.
And we have 5 days to match. And the clock doesn't start on those 5 days until the opening of free agency. Teams have their money spent in the first 3 days almost always. We won't have a problem with both getting more players in that time-frame and keeping Crabbe if that is the path we want to do.
Yeah 13-15 is probably too much for us. He might get it from a team who is desperate for a starting SG. I was thinking 10-12 per year could be the new norm for good bench players.
I think it's a GREAT slap in the face to Jason Quick after he questioned Henderson being showcased! Not only did Olshey not trade Henderson--he acquired another of Henderson's teammate from last year's Hornets team in Brain Roberts. I mean Neil is just playing mind games with the Portland media.
