Big deal. Who gives a damn about Alec Baldwin's wife. This is the first time I've ever heard of her and I hope it's the last.
...I googled this, but I am not sure why this was thread worthy or even cause for a JFC -- what am I missing here? "I've seen chatter online questioning my identity and culture," she wrote alongside the video. "This is something I take very seriously, and for those who are asking -- I'll reiterate my story, as I've done many times before. I was born in Boston and grew up spending time with my family between Massachusetts and Spain. My parents and sibling live in Spain and I chose to live here, in the USA. We celebrate both cultures in our home -- Alec and I are raising our children bilingual, just as I was raised. This is very important to me. I understand that my story is a little different, but it is mine, and I'm very proud of it."
She was born Hillary Hayward Thomas Schoolmates said she had no accent back in school in Boston where she grew up. She lied in interviews both on TV and in magazines several times saying she was born in Mallorca Spain, when she was in fact born in Massachusetts. Changed her name to Hilaria. Her mom is Kathryn Hayward and her dad is David Thomas Jr. The closest connection to Spanish is his BA in spanish literature Though apparently her parents and brother live in Spain, they are not of Spanish origin.
Not sure this is the best example of someone faking something. I worked with kids who were 1st generation Americans, and you couldn't tell with their accent. But when I would see them around their parents, they would speak, fluently, in their parents native language. Not an ounce of accent was to be found in their voices... Look at Mila Kunis. And now that you've finished ogling over her, listen to her talk. You don't hear any accent in her voice, yet she lived the first 13 years of her life in the Ukraine.
She is not 1st generation American. She was born here. Her parents were born here. Her dad has a degree in Spanish literature. He learned Spanish in college like I did. Their family traveled there. They aren't Spanish. It would be like if I started to pretend I was Spanish because I an speak the language and started using an accent all the time and said I was born in another country just because I visited there.
I'm not saying you're wrong about the other stuff, I'm just saying that accent isn't a good barometer. She, like most of Hollywood, is phony as hell. same with that Dolezel lady.
That was just one element of her facade. I have listed the others too. All together its a damming picture.
the space you allowed to view, prior to listen to Mila, is not even close to long enough. Just sayin...
Her husband is a damned good actor as well...she's just a female Andy Kaufman playing Tony Clifton, but it's paying big bucks!
Um, you are aware I've been using the internet for like 25+ years now, right? I know ALL about that. Allegedly.
