It's unclear whether former NBA Rookie of the Year Michael Carter-Williams will be cleared to open the 2017-18 regular season with his new team, the Charlotte Hornets.

Head coach Steve Clifford revealed Friday that the 25-year-old underwent platelet-rich plasma treatments on the patellar tendons in both his knees in July, and he has yet to be cleared to work out, according to The Charlotte Observer's Rick Bonnell.

While Clifford has high hopes Carter-Williams will recover quickly, he doesn't know exactly when he'll return.
