I'm a Ducks fan but really appreciate what the Beavs have done for baseball in the NW. And they've developed at a lot of local players in an area which wasn't a hot bed of amateur talent. Casey is a HOFer. My hope is that Andrew Checketts takes over when UO fire Hayward. That would be a great rivalry.
Have a chance to finish with the best winning percentage in college baseball history. Watched them celebrate the P12 championship and sweep of the ducks at PK park the other week. Satisfying to say the least.
Casey is a future HOF coach....the Beavers baseball program is the best baseball program at the college level on the Planet...I'm an Oregon fan...Beavers, Blazers, Ducks, Timbers, Ems, whatever....I'm really proud of the Beavs!
Meh. They're beating up on a terrible Pac-12 conference. Don't even have the most wins nationwide. If Louisville hadn't had such a terrible week, I probably wouldn't even rank the Beavs #1. OK--I don't actually believe any of that (except for the wins thing, which is factual). Beaver baseball is very impressive this year. Let's hope they don't follow the trend of teams setting regular season records and failing in the postseason.
Beavs are #1 in the RPI ranking and the PAC 12 has 3 teams ranked in the top 15-20 (depending on which ranking you look at). http://www.ncaa.com/rankings/baseball/d1/d1baseballcom-top-25 RPI ranks http://www.ncaa.com/rankings/baseball/d1/rpi
I'm scared to be overly confident of our chances to get to Omaha, but with such dominate pitching, we've got a very good shot to get to the championship. Beavs team ERA is amazing. The #2 team isnt even close. http://www.ncaa.com/stats/baseball/d1/current/team/211
You realize I was just kidding about everything, I said, right? That said, however, the RPI argument doesn't really help in regard to the bad conference comment--Pac-12's average RPI is 63, 5th in the country. After those 3 in the top 15, the next best Pac12 team is 51st. By contrast, ACC has 6 of the top 16 and 2 of the top 5, Big12 has 6 teams in the top 25, and the SEC has 8 of the top 37. Even the AAC has a better average RPI, despite having nobody ranked above any of the Pac-12's top 3. Seriously, the Pac-12 is crap this year.
Horton finally ran out of excuses. I never liked the guy and I am glad Oregon is moving on. I heard a baseball prospect say that his recruiting pitches were just lousey. My guess is they offer Amdrew Checketts the job. He is a former pitching coach there and took UCSB to the CWS. last year. Hortons contract already runs out in Septembef.
Casey is always in the mix....the guy won back to back national championships from a college in a town of 80k people...you know how rare that is? Beavs baseball is an elite program no matter what the Pac 12 looks like...it's the system..we have so little to cheer for in Oregon but men's baseball in Corvalis is something to be proud of from my view and has been for a long time...no flash in the pan number 1 ranking....they earn it and have a winning culture
The Beavs have the all time best winning percentage of D1 schools this season. They are just incredible.
