The Ontario Reign, defending Pacific Division Champions and proud affiliate of the NHL's 2012 Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings, announced that defenseman Chris Huxley has signed a professional tryout agreement with the team's AHL affiliate Manchester Monarchs. In 41 games Huxley leads the Reign defense with 25 points (4g, 21a) and plus-minus rating of +12. The 25-year-old, Weymouth, Mass. native is currently tied for third in points among defensemen in the ECHL active roster. Last year, his rookie season with Ontario, Huxley led the Reign defense with a career-high 35 points (6g, 29a) and a +9 rating. He also recorded 109 penalty minutes, more than ever before. The 5-foot-11, 202-pound blueliner was a co-captain at Harvard University during his Senior year of a four-year collegiate career. While with Harvard he scored seven goals and earned 35 assists for a total of 42 points in 119 games. Huxley will join former Reign linemate Vincent LoVerde in Manchester and will wear number 8 with the Monarchs.
