...that the Jets are going to trade down and draft Jay Cutler.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Jets' Star Search Lands in Nashville to Size Up the Strong-Armed CutlerArticle Tools Sponsored ByBy JUDY BATTISTAPublished: April 18, 2006NASHVILLE, April 17 — The Jets completed the first leg of their tour of quarterback prospects for the N.F.L. draft, concluding a two-day meeting with Vanderbilt's Jay Cutler on Monday. The Jets' owner, Woody Johnson, made the trip to Nashville to dine with Cutler on Sunday night — Cutler ordered the New York strip at a steak house near campus — along with General Manager Mike Tannenbaum, Coach Eric Mangini and the offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer.Johnson's presence was something of a surprise because owners do not usually take part in these sessions, but Johnson is becoming more involved with team operations.Schottenheimer led Cutler through a breakdown of the Jets' offense at a blackboard on Sunday afternoon and Monday morning. In all, Cutler spent about five hours learning the offense before throwing in front of the Jets' contingent.Later Monday, the Jets moved on to Los Angeles to meet with U.S.C. quarterback Matt Leinart, and they will meet with Texas quarterback Vince Young later in the week. Cutler, who has already had visits with the Titans, the Vikings and the Rams, is expected to travel to Detroit on Thursday to meet with the Lions."They're putting you in uncomfortable situations and seeing how you react," Cutler said in an interview Monday. "It's definitely nerve-racking."Cutler said the interview was conducted with rapid-fire questions to test how quickly Cutler could absorb the offense.Cutler said the Jets seemed to stress stretching the field and also discussed routes in which the pocket moved. The coaches also talked to Cutler about the strong gusts at Giants Stadium, but Cutler — who has the strongest arm of the top three quarterbacks in the draft — said he believed that would not be a problem, that his passes would slice through the wind."I could definitely see myself playing for them," Cutler said of the Jets.Cutler threw to several of Vanderbilt's receivers and said that after an erratic start, his last 20 throws were on point. The Jets, who have the fourth overall pick, have been circumspect about their intentions for the April 29-30 draft and did not tip their hand to Cutler. But he said he would be happy to land in New York."I think you're going to have pressure wherever you go," Cutler said. "I think it would be a great staff. It's a place that's looking up."</div>http://www.nytimes.com/2006/04/18/sports/f...r=1&oref=slogin<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Jets | Cutler pleased with visitMon, 17 Apr 2006 14:21:51 -0700Randy Lange, of the Bergen Record, reports Vanderbilt QB Jay Cutler worked out for New York Jets head coach Eric Mangini and offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer Monday, April 17, the last part of his two-day visit with the team. Cutler felt the entire experience with the Jets was enjoyable and would like to be a part of the organization should they pick him in the upcoming 2006 NFL Draft. "I'd love to play for them. I'd love to go to New York," Cutler said. "I think it'd be a great challenge for me. I think their offense fits me really well."</div>
Now that would be interesting pick. I thought Cutler would be the guy for the Jets after his impressive Senior Bowl, but I was wrong. I still don't think Ramsey or Pennington is the answer in New York, I really like Cutler.
It wouldn't make sense having 3 potential starting QBs on the roster. The Jets have another needs to address so I don't really see them getting Jay Cutler.
Jets have had in Kellen Clemens and Charlie Whitehurst. So that makes 5: Leinart, Cutler, Young, Clemens, and Whitehurst. It's more that they are interviewing the entire field of QB's than they are shooting for Cutler. And you know what? I don't think we take Leinart even if he falls to us at 4 if D'Brickashaw is still on the board.

Jets do not need another QB. Obviously, Pennington needs to stay healthy, but when he is healthy, he deserves the old contract he had(kinda). The Jets need other things, especially that gaping whole at left tackle. If D'Brickashaw is still there, I will be shocked if they don't take him. They could also use Hawk as well, but I think they will pass on him if D'Brick is there. If Mario Williams is there(which I doubt he will be), I see them taking him. But, it really should be D'Brick, it's their biggest need.

If they draft a QB and make a mistake then they lose 5 years. Draft the safe option: D'Brickashaw.

Your acting like Brick is a sure thing when that couldnt be further from the truth. Not to mention the obvious, We can win a Super Bowl without a Franchise Tackle. Its much harder to win one without a Franchise QB.

He's just better suited for the right side. He's a top 10 RT in the NFL. Mike Williams is a fatass lazy bum, whereas D'Brick is a workout warrior. They aren't even close to the same. And aside from all of this Drafting an OT in the 1st round is historically the safest bet whereas drafting a QB is the riskiest.2 QB's out of 43. That's how many 1st rounders have won their team's Superbowls in the past 2 decades after being drafted by that team in the 1st round. Not to mention that a top 5 offensive line has won 9 of the past 10 superbowls.Sorry, I'm all about the safe bet, not betting the house on Cutler.
