Could not watch the game last night, just saw the highlights to include Ichiros catch. That guy still plays this game well, runs down stuff in the outfield, moves on the bases, a threat every time he comes up. I wish that man a great season, appreciate his "gamer" display that sets a positive example of how a team mate should be.
...same here...Gardner, Elsbury, and Ichiro may very well be the best defensive OF trio I've ever seen.
He's still a decent player, although super streaky, I was hoping they could move him, but now with another Yankee getting hurt every game he will surely be needed, the guy may find himself batting cleanup soon.
Cervelli's injury brought Ichiro into the game as a PR, that had a huge impact on the game outcome. Beltran at first gives us the 3 amigos in the OF.
...^^^very strange how games pan out sometimes...Cervelli hustling down the line preventing the DP which ultimately provided the winning run...Ichiro ends up in RF because of Cervelli's hammy and makes the great catch...no way Beltran gets to that ball.
...and oh, John Ferrell, stop whining about the replay system...the idea is to get the call right...and they did.
I'd have no problem with this................ LF - Gardner SS - Jeter CK - Ellsbury 1B - Beltran DH - Soriano C - McCann 3B - Johnson RF - Ichiro 2B - Solarte
...^^^ I dunno, Beltran was an emergency move last night...he even said that he was "praying they didn't hit the ball to him".
I didn't know that. I also didn't know that that was his 1st time ever playing the position. And did you hear Girardi talking to Kay about McCann now being his only catcher after Cervelli went down, his comment to Kay was "Anna just became our back up catcher only he doesn't know it yet". Un-fucking believable the way they band-aid this defense. And as far as a back up for McCann now, I'd rather Murphy then Romine. JMO.
