Interesting listen/read on the role of the 4/5

    I listened to the whole thing and she said literally nothing that we didn't already know.

    tl;dr - 7 footers are useful because rim protection is indicative of good defense. Duh. That's why most teams still employ a big lumbering center. She says nothing about the interaction between 4s and 5s. Whether it is more useful to have two rim protectors on the floor at the same time instead of one.

    MY INTERPRETATION of the problem with playing two traditional bigs for most teams is that the 4 can't really guard the perimeter, and if the offense chooses to play 4 out, your tall 4 that can't defend on the perimeter becomes a liability. His rim protection is marginalized when he's sitting out at the perimeter most of the time. I was hoping she would expand on this, but she didn't, so it was kind of useless.
