The Bears’ bell cow was seated in the corner of Halas Hall’s media room Thursday, waiting patiently to take the place of the quarterback at the podium. It’s time to feed him. Seven games into a season marred by inconsistency on offense, it’s time for Matt Forte to take over as the focal point of the offense. It’s time to let Forte be the workhorse Sunday against the Patriots. “You want to get your best players the ball as many times as you can,” offensive coordinator Aaron Kromer said. “It works out differently in each game. “[But], yeah, we want to hand [Forte] the ball, and there’s a lot of opportunities to check the ball down to him in the pass [game].” Can Forte carry the offense as it overcomes other issues? “Yeah, definitely he could,” Kromer said. Forte might not be the traditional 20- to 30-carry, pound-away back a la DeMarco Murray of the Dallas Cowboys and Marshawn Lynch of the Seattle Seahawks. But in this era of pass-happy offenses, Forte can turn 20 to 30 touches into big fantasy days and big wins for the Bears. He’s a modern-day bell-cow back, so to speak. - See more at: http://www.suntimes.com/sports/foot...o-let-matt-forte-be-the-man.html#.VEpeocmOo3k
