Does anyone know the average age of Patriot defenders now that they have signed 37 year old John Lynch? I guess the Patriots will have to start fielding zombies before Goodall investigates the Patriots for an covert HGH program. Here's the story!
Lynch isn't better than whatever they're playing at free safety? If I remember correctly Tank Williams was a backup.
This defense is going to have trouble when all these guys begin to retire. Good signing for the time being though.

Still, I see three guys on that list that are at least 35 and Vrabel is no spring chicken at 33. Also, I tried googling the average age of NFL teams and wanted to pull my hair out because that info is so hard to find. However, my web search did pull up a post on another message board which confirmed the average age of the Patriots defenders being 29.1. That also gave the Patriots the 2nd oldest defense in the league.
Their line is young and promising. Their secondary's pretty much the same aside from Harrison. It's the linebacking corps that is badly in need of some youth. If you believe that they're signing Lynch to play some LB (its a theory floating around the internets), it certainly doesn't help.

Bruschi and Harrison probably have one good year left. They'll probably draft or sign some players to replace them next year. Anyways, it doesn't really matter because last year they were just as old and they were the #2 defense in the NFL.
Ah of course, here he is (4 seconds into the video); Lynch is #47: It's a clip of your favorite team (The Lions right?), with some guy running.
Thanks Huevonkiller, you made my day with that clip, I just hope Lynch learned how to tackle after that.
No problem man, he is my favorite running back ever. As for the topic: I'm curious to see how much Lynch actually plays throughout the season.
It will be a problem in the future; but for a team contending for a Super Bowl... old age isn't necessarily a bad thing (assuming they stay healthy and don't get worn down). It brings them an experienced backup... Its a solid signing IMO. If Harrison gets hurt, they can turn it over to another experienced SS...which, with Meriweather starting(?), is probably a good thing due to his lack of experience.
