I am surprised everyone liked Kent so much. He’s a great guy though.

This really needs to happen. Personally, I'd like to just listen to actual player conversations, smack talk, etc. Fill in the dead air with a play-by-play guy who shuts the fuck up whenever something funny is happening. I doubt it'd happen, though. The players would be wayyy too accountable for saying shit in the moment.

I agree about Jordan Kent, though. He and Hurd already seem to have a nice bit of chemistry together. He talks a little less about obvious/boring stuff ("Lillard inbounds the ball to CJ who brings it across the half court..."), which gives Hurd a little more space to work with.

I also always had a vague sense that Calabaro kind of looked down on Hurd a little. Couldn't put my finger on it, but I just had a general sense he had that "old guy" attitude. (I have it myself!) Just kind of a sense he was above it all because of his experience. There seems to be more of a co-equal dynamic now.

I also get the sense that Kent is just more of a fan of the team, as opposed to a skilled announcer who is hired to work for a team. I like that, as long as it doesn't slide too far into homerism.

These guys have really good chemistry. But I wish Jordan would stop saying, "Gary Trent Jr." every friggin' time he has to say his name. Call him Gary, or Trent, or Trent Jr., but to say his full name every single time gets exhausting to listen to.

He has a smooth approach, but I do like superlatives that guys like the Schonz, Wheels and even Calabro use on big plays. It pumps you up and hopefully Kent can add that into his commentary.

As much as I enjoyed Kevin calling the games, it never felt like he allowed himself to get entrenched in the Blazers, like he was just doing it to keep the pipes warm, etc. I don't blame him if that's what he did though.

To be fair he isn't calling him Gary Dajaun Trent Jr. I mean that would just be ridiculous to use his full name but yeah, he should just call him Gary unless Gary Trent Jr. has requested to be referred to as Gary Trent Jr.

I don't think he (Kevin) wanted to do any more radio or tv. I agree that Kevin would've been awesome on the radio (tho I like Travis).

The rookie's name is Jordan Russell Kent.

Sonic fans never called Kevin Calabro by only his last name, as Blazer fans have ever since he got here. He was always "Kevin Calabro."

I’m finding Kent a cornball. He needs to cut out the goofy talk; “and Collins puts it up and into the peach basket”

i mean, wtf? Is this guy from the 1950’s?

    too corny for me

Calabria was way better than Hurd though. Hurd has always been painful to listen to for me. Tries too hard.
