It looks like he doing his best to get back from is injury. Olshey said Nurk and Davis and Crabbe should be ready for camp,
In their introductory press conference, I was surprised at how Olshey described the shape of Nurkic during the trade. The impression it created was that Denver player development had done a poor job of prepping his body for the demands of being an NBA center. Very excited to see what he can do.
It wasn't a impression, he clearly said Denver had done a shit job. said something like "If he had been we us from the start of the season he would have been in a way better shape"
I'd need to see his resume... Previous positions: Carrot Top's personal trainer, Guy Fieri's stylist. BNM
Talking about competency, who were the guys who allowed Nurkic to play so many minutes even though they knew he was so out of shape and also apparently they considered his muscle development to be unbalanced?
favoring one side....leaning...tennis players have huge muscles in their strong serving arm and not much on their weak side usually...muscle inbalance.
You see this a lot with guys coming back from injury. They rehab so hard their injured leg becomes stronger than their healthy leg
There was so little to go on from what Olshey said but I got the impression they felt he had been with a bad trainer who maybe over-emphasized one group of muscles over another. Maybe thighs over calves or upper body over lower body. Something like that?
Quaterbacks and pitchers have huge imbalances in thier arms. With injuries, you cant work out on the injured section of the body so it deflates while the healthy half you can work on inflates. Unbalanced tissue mass... Nothing that cant be evened out with consistent and varying endurance workouts for a basketball player
It really just sounds like Nurk wasn't playing enough minutes to stay in game shape and they didn't have any supplemental cario program in place to keep him in top condition. He was starting early in the year. So, they probably didn't recommend any additional conditioning exercises. As his PT decreased, his fitness level also decreased. An oversight on their part that they didn't ramp up his off court conditioning routine to keep him in game shape, but when your minutes are cut way back and you are racking up DNP-CDs, you get a lot less attention from the trainers than the guys who are playing big minutes over the course of an 82 game season. Back story to this. At the NBA awards show last night, they gave Westbrook an award for that game winner over Denver which basically eliminated them from the playoffs if you remember. Huge triple double. Anyways afterwards Charles Barkley made a joke saying Denver had no chance making the playoffs or something along those lines. Thats when Nurk tweeted this. Basically laughing at the joke and Denver not making the playoffs which resulted in salty Denver fan replies.
I played a Les Paul for a decade in the 70s and needed my back adjusted every month and a half....muscle imbalance...guitar is a contortion in itself...I have a Parker I love...it's like having a clarinet around your neck..weightless wonder
