Budinger tears miniscus Link Love, Rubio, Roy and now Chase. Can't say I feel sorry for the Blazer wannabe. Now we just need Adelman to break something!
SHIT DAMNIT! Budinger is on my fantasy team and was expecting big things with BRoy going down. On another note I like Chase Budinger and I so badly wanted the Blazers to take him in the 2009 draft at #38 he would have been a steel. Instead we drafted Jon Brockman Who the hell is Jon Brockman? I still can't believe Budinger fell all the way down to pick 44.
The Blazers didn't draft Brockman. I wish they would've. That was the when they had 33 and 38, moved 38+Sergio+cash to SAC for #31 (which I thought was going to be Blair), took Pendergraph, then took Cunningham at 33 with Blair, Jerebko and Brockman still on the board. SAC picked Brockman, after SAS took Blair at 37
if anyone gave a shit about those idiot rubes we would go over there and tell them how stuid they all are...nah
The Blazers drafted Brockman #38. Pritchard got #38 for Omer Asik, who's now a good center. Then Pritchard, to get Pendergraph, gave up Sergio, Brockman, and $2 million, setting a record by far for cash for a 2nd round pick. Then Pritchard fans and local media couldn't understand why Paul Allen fired Pritchard after that and othet debacles, so they hate Allen. http://www.basketball-reference.com/draft/NBA_2009.html
The trade was reported well before either of the teams had started picking. http://sportstwo.com/threads/143015-Trade!-Sergio-to-Sacramento-(MERGED)/page2?highlight=brockman http://sportstwo.com/threads/143023-NBA-Draft-picks-thread-(MERGED)/page2?highlight=brockman by the time it made it to the second round, POR had the #31 and #33 picks. It went the way I said.
More like adelman sitting a promising youth because the 40%fg guard is a believer in his system. Then the sky will fall in minny.
I would say Kahn was infected by the Blazer curse, not that he inherited it. He fucked the Blazers and since he didn't wrap it up he picked up the virus.
I was going by established sources like http://basketball.realgm.com/nba/teams/Portland_Trail_Blazers/24/Transaction_History/2008 http://basketball.realgm.com/player/Jon_Brockman/Summary/1645 http://prosportstransactions.com/ba...ndDate=&PlayerMovementChkBx=yes&submit=Search http://espn.go.com/nba/player/_/id/3966/jon-brockman http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jon_Brockman http://www.sbnation.com/nba/players/71937/jon-brockman#stories_tab Yet it's not mentioned here. http://espn.go.com/nba/team/transactions/_/name/por/year/2009/portland-trail-blazers I didn't witness the actual trade. You might have the inside scoop and they may be wrong, and I don't mean that sarcastically. I just argued with Boob over whether to always follow authority, so I'll stay consistent and say that you may be right and those sources may be wrong.
It wasn't an inside scoop, it was just that the trades occurred before the draft but after the deadline (4 hrs before the draft, iirc) for the teams to be able to use their own name when drafting. The trade was rumored the day before, and was reported at around 5pm PST (you can see that in the draft threads), which was before the draft but after the deadline for the announcement to be made with the new team names. Hence, even though everyone and their brother had heard that Sergio was traded and we now had the #31 pick, it was still announced (and for legal purposes, written up in the transactions) as "Sacramento selected Jeff Pendergraph #31" and "Portland selected Jon Brockman #38". The difference b/w what we're saying is that POR knew well in advance that they had #31 and #33. It wasn't like they drafted Brockman at 38 and said "Man, I wonder if we can package him with something to get Sacramento to trade us Pendergraph". They purposefully made (through SAC's proxy) the picks at #31 and #33, and then SAC told them who to pick at 38 to fulfill the trade. Here's another example from 2008. Even though the trade for Ike Diogu and #11 for Jack, McBob, Cash and #13 went down before #11 was picked, but after the deadline, Bucher and the like were reporting that the trade had been approved and we would be getting Bayless @ 11 and picking whoever IND wanted at #13. Yet Brandon Rush still had to put on a Blazer hat when doing his interviews, even though one of the questions was "have you heard you're going to IND?"
