His sourced told him KP is out after the draft. Even if KP is out, the timing makes zero sense. Get rid of him now.
If KP leaves now, his entire staff goes with him to his new job. That means all the scouts that have actually looked at talent will leave. The draft "braintrust" would be Nate and Paul Allen. Nate drafted Taurean Green, so I say after the draft is just fine with me.
One would seem to think that if it was an issue of integrity, he wouldn't have been had this issue in the first place.
I just wish I knew what the heck is going on. It is unfathomable to me that the Blazers would change horses now, especially considering the tremendous job KP has done with this team to-date.
How often has he been wrong? Honestly I don't know the answer to either question, but I don't recall him being particularly untrustworthy or prone to throwing shit against the wall to just see what will stick *cough* Peter Vescey *cough* Sam Smith ... ahem.
I have no idea how credible Kenny Vance is, but I certainly hope he's wrong about Pritchard being out.
Shit. here we go again! If there is no sourced named, I don't wanna here it personally Coming from an always sunny fan
Nothing would surprise me with the bungling Paul Allen and his cast of Yes Men running the show. If you want to get rid of Pritchard, do it right now. What is the point in letting him inside the decision making process, even if he isn't making the decisions, only to let him go this summer? It makes absolutely zero sense from an organizational standpoint as well as a competitive standpoint. If (a big if) Vance is hearing these rumors, then KP is likely hearing the same murmurs.
If this rumour is actually true, Pritchard isn't going to be petty when his next job is on the line. If it's his decision, he's going to try to select the best player because it's all going to be a part of his record. No NBA team is going to accept "Well, I was a lame duck, so I purposely screwed up that pick. Therefore, it shouldn't count against me...hire me!"
It makes perfect sense to wait until after the draft. KP and his team have invested many, many hours in preparing for the draft. The Blazers, presumably, would not be able to get a new GM in place in time for the draft, so why not take advantage of the investment that they have made in KP? I'm still confused as to why they'd let him go at all, and I'm not sure there is any credibility to this report, but if the franchise is bound and determined to get rid of him this would not be an unreasonable way to go.
