I thought Armstrong would have been a nice pickup for the Blazers since it wouldn't have cost them much. He's better than anything in the NBADL and can play PF & center.

I would agree with that. I just don't know who we would have traded to NO. Who did Sacramento send to NO?

They sent a 2nd round conditional pick.

Wow that's crazy. Hilton is a pretty decent player IMO. The problem we have, is our roster is full.

Teams tweaking their lineups and saving some cash.

I assume Dallas traded for Najera because they wanted to get a player back who would just be quiet and sit on the bench, and give them energy in the rare situations they would use him. Humphries never has been a happy camper if he doesn't get enough playing time.

New Orleans is just trying to save cash. It's that simple.

The signing of Patty Mills rears its ugly head yet again.

This was the perfect deal since it didn't require the Hornets getting anything back but a future 2nd rounder.

I don't, providing Joel goes out as part of the deal. 9 pts 10.6 boards and 2 blocks per game?

I started a thread the other day where I showed the Blazers pretty much win every game they win the rebounding war. That has pretty much continued since the day I posted that. Getting a center would allow Lamarcus to go back to PF, and help a lot.

Nothing to see here until the offseason if you're a Blazer fan.

Yep I am pretty sure you are correct sir! We will get a few players back here and there, and we will go through the rest of the year short handed on the front line.

The issue isn't necessarily a full roster. N.O. needed to move salary to move closer to the L.T. limit. Sacramento had cap space. Which is why they could send a second rounder for Armstrong. We don't have that, so any complaints that we didn't make this move are off base. We COULDN'T make this move.

We couldn't have made this EXACT move, but we could have been involved in a 3-way deal, or cleared space to make this work. Armstrong has been in trade rumors for weeks and was highly available. KP could have cleared cap and roster space if he wanted to acquire him.

Actually we do have cap space. We are a few million under the cap I believe. We don't go over until next year when Brandons and Lamarcus extension kick in.

Yeah, we have about a million in cap space. Not enough to acquire an extremely mediocre player in Armsrtong. Sure, we could have tried to shuffle aprts, to clear more space. But really? We want to move 1.5 million in salary "somehow" to acquire Armstrong?

Some sort of 3 way deal involving Armstrong likely would have sent a player back to N.O. Or, we would have had to move over a million in salary to acquire him. What do you propose we shoudl have done for that? Move Mills and another one of our rookies? Hardly worth it, IMO.

I figured if they were going to clear a roster spot using Mills they would have done it by now. But they appear set to keep him, so they must have high hopes for him.
