For the right # that starts with a 6 AAV, I am on board. And hopefully for only 6 years.

I will say this right now, if we caved and gave this guy 7 years AND 7 mill per that is a joke. Ridiculously stupid panic move. 3 years from now we'll be like what an awful deal when we are trying to re-sign kids.

On top of that with Igor out now, and the Isles and Canes getting better, we are not making the playoffs.

Awful job if Gorton caved. Very weak and dumb.

Sounds like 7 years 45.5 mill total (6.5 per cap hit). I don't love the 7th year, but the 6.5 per cap hit is okay. Would have preferred 6 years for 6.3 per, but 6.5 isn't awful. I don't love the 7th year though.

It's not a panic move you dumb bastard. You just don't appreciate what Kreider does in front of the net and for Zibanejad.

Kreider will be a good player into his later 30's, so even if that 7th year is a problem they can deal with it most likely.

I like it better at 6.5 than 7 per I'll say that. I do not like 7 years though. I will predict right now that in 3 years many on here will be saying OMG Kreider contract is really hurting our ability to re-sign kids, and has 4 years left.

    We'll see.

Exactly. He's a fitness freak beyond comprehension. I've said for a while that Kreider will be very good at 35. His fitness and style of play will lead to that.

I'll also add, hopefully the past few months are a sign of things to come and not just him playing hard for a big deal, because if he goes back to the disappearing act of his whole career up until that point, this will be a bad deal.

We get him at ages 29 through 35 starting next year.

We gave him the 7th year. I would not have. I don't love this deal, I think you guys way overvalue Kreider, who for the first time in his career has been consistent for a few months straight, but we'll see.

I don't hate it because the AAV is under 7 at 6.5 per, but I don't love it. I think this will hurt us in 2 or 3 years. And considering this year is a wash, we better make runs the next 2 seasons.

At least this is done and they can move forward. Let's see what happens with Fast and maybe DA/Strome though with Buchnevich banged up maybe they stand pat.

Kreids is a workout warrior and will be good into his mid thirties (35). Not worried at all about this deal

I'll also add, hard to re-sign DA and Strome now with Kreider re-signed. They have to try and deal Skjei I'd say because the issue is not next year, it's 2, 3, 4 years down the road.

I don’t think Strome is anything special. He is a panarin invention. Skjei could still go maybe today and DA who knows. They have a replacement coming for him if he goes but he is an enigma. Very good on the offensive end and very bad on the defensive end. I am very happy my KREIDS is staying.

Kreider deal (7 x $6.5M AAV) is front-loaded and has some no-move protection which would rule out Seattle expansion exposure.

So the deal also includes some sort of NMC. Awesome.

I agree on Strome, but the only comment I'll add is we need another C. That is the huge need on the team now IMO.

As for Skjei, I would move him now for a C. That's why I thought Skjei for Trocheck made sense. Skjei is the guy ho should be dealt for the C we need.

Yesterday was perfect example of what I tried to tell one poster her. Kreider was primarily responsible for 2 goals yesterday that he didn't get a point on. Both times he completely screened the goalie on long shots that otherwise would have been saves.
