We will know by this afternoon if the Nets will match...highly, highly unlikely, but things can change overnight. They did in February 2006. The Nets were trying to avoid the luxury tax and were willing to trade one of their 2006 picks (the pick used to take Boone) along with Marc Jackson to the Bobcats...just to get under the tax threshold. Then, the night before the trade deadline, Jake Voskhul went down with a season ending injury. A couple of days before that, Chris Anderson had been suspended for two years for violating the NBA drug policy. The Hornets were desperate for a back up center. So the Nets offered Jackson and Linton Johnson III to the Hornets for Boki Nachbar. Looking around the league, I see the Thunder wants to get rid of a big man, the Kings may deal Mike Miller and the Grizzlies' Darko Milicic is out for two months with a broken knuckle. Ya never know.
