He said nobody wanted him and his teammates hate his guts. I remember similar things Jason Quick said about Rasheed when he was a Blazers. Which is the worst teammate and the more skillful player? Rasheed did get the Blazers to the WCF.

I'm not calling Rasheed a bad teammate and everyone hates him but it was reported that way just like it is for DMC. I was a big Rasheed fan.

I don't recall anyone calling Sheed a bad teammate. Most players enjoyed playing with him.

I would still take a chance on DMC, but I can't say I enjoyed watching him play last night. I find his antics extremely annoying.
    Dame ain't changing that.

And his defense (Similar to the Olympics this last summer) is not a focus for him. Which I guess when you are putting up 50 you can get away with.

But there is no way in hell I would trade CJ for him. Dame is not on every night (I.e last night) so having two scoring guards is necessary. And I still say it is easier to find a defensive center than finding someone who can score like CJ.

This. A Blazers team with Boogie on it might score 150 points on the nights that he's on and not getting ejected. Of course, they might give up 160 points. We need a dependable, steady defensive presence at center. If he can score 15 to 20 ppg, so much the better, but defense needs to be the primary focus, IMO.

    Mods,

Any chance we can consolidate this with one of the the billion DeMarcus Cousins threads in this forum? Do we really need another DMC thread every time the guy breaks wind, behaves like a petulant man child, loses his temper, gets a coach fired, yells at the refs, threatens someone in the media, throws his teammates under the bus, get suspended for conduct detrimental to the team, or is just a huge fucking douchebag?

According to his advanced stats, he's really not that bad on defense.

Sheed was talented but he never came close to the production DMC put up last night. And he's done it before.

I realize Cousins is a very polarizing figure, and I have grave doubts about how it would work out if he were traded to Portland, but I'm a high-risk, high-reward thinker. Especially when I know that "playing it safe" for this current roster (i.e. making some trades around the margins) isn't likely to get them any closer to winning a title. So when I'm presented with the potential for colossal failure or ultimate success, or mediocre failure and no chance of ultimate success, I think it's worth the risk, because I don't think we're actually risking anything.

Sheed didn't "get the Blazers to the WCF". That was a STACKED team. He was just one piece. We don't make it to the WCF in 1999 without Brain Grant's defense on Karl Malone. Malone was MVP that season, and Grant held him to 20 ppg on .430 FG% in that series. Malone had an ORtg of 112 for the regular season, but Grant held him to ORtg = 99 in that series.

Meanwhile, on the other end, Grant outplayed Sheed averaging 13.3 ppg and 9.8 rpg to Sheed's 12.0/4.7.

In 2000, BGrant was gone, but it wasn't Sheed leading us to the WCF. The road to the WCF again went through UTA. It was a team effort. Steve Smith led the team in scoring with 16.2 ppg on .564 FG% and .500 3FG%. Sabonis was at 13.4 ppg and 8.2 rpg on .521 FG%. Sheed was 13.8 ppg, 5.6 pg on .453 FG%. Greg Anthony's 4th quarter defense on John Stockton was also a big key to winning that series and advancing to the WCF against the Lakers.

I get that there are still Sheed fans around here, but this myth that he came up big in the post season and led us (almost) to the promised land is nothing more than revisionist history. He did no such thing. Sheed was a role player, a very talented role player, not a leader. That's why he was successful in DET. That team had plenty of other strong leaders. Sheed was the 3rd option on offense and had Ben Wallace to anchor the defense and control the boards. Sheed just got to be Sheed, average 13 ppg and 7 rpg and that was all they needed out of him.

I don't remember people saying he was a bad teammate. Maybe this is like when you said Damian drank like a fish.

    So glad you mentioned Sabonis.
If you could point to anyone leading those teams imo it was him. Def wasn't Sheed.

IMO you're a bad teammate if you let your emotions go unchecked (be put above the team) and negatively effect the outcome of a game, whether its via technical fouls or prima donna displays that distract from team cohesiveness.

I can see that, but I think that his teammates loved him, which is contrary to what bgd implied.
