...and forgive me if this has already been covered, but; 1. Dempster intentionally tried to hit ARod 4 times before finally succeeding on the fourth pitch and hit ARod above the waist. 2. Girardi gets tossed from the game and Dempster is allowed to continue to pitch. 3. Dempster gets a 5 game suspension but because of the scheduled off days, does not missed a start. 4. Girardi is fined $5000 while Dempster is only fined $2500. ...anyone think this is fucked up?
First I believe its a 5 game suspension not days. In that case he would miss his schedule start in rotation by one day. The fine as far as money is a joke. Can MLB get anything right?
This only escalates the situation more in my opinion. My fear, is that it becomes open season on Arod and as you saw Sunday, his teammates have his back, and if a brawl broke out someone gets injured and at this stage we couldn't afford to lose a Grandy, Soriano, Cano etc. The next Red Soxs series in New York will be must see TV.
So even if that's the case & honestly I don't think he'll miss any starts, then he's really only being suspended for 1 game. Completely comical.
...but that's the thing, because of a scheduled day off the Sox rotation is moved back by one day and so is every Sox pitcher's normal days rest...so it really does not penalize Dempster or the Sox.
The Red Sox have nothing lock up as yet so they can ill afford to lose a prime player. I have not been to the new stadium but from what I have heard the current fan base is on the laid back area. Maybe when Boston comes in this time it will be like the old days when teams were intimidated coming to New York. The next series at Fenway should be interesting as well and the closer the Yankees get to the top it'll be like the Yanks Red Sox Series of old. While Dempsters actions may have promted spark I believe that Girardi getting hot and showing it was more so. Go Yankees.
