I'm willing to fork over some good coin for a new mattress. What should I get? Tempur Pedic? Memory foam? What do you have?

Jlprk, do you like your waterbed?

Waterbeds you just time the roll of the wave. Foam you just sink in, no bounce. Seriously, rent a hotel room with memory foam beds, comfy to sleep on, weird to do the sex on.

First thing....if buying from Sleep Country, etc, etc, DO NOT pay more than 50-60% of the asking price. Mattresses are the main most over priced commodity there is. No kidding. You find something you like, offer them half price. If they balk, start walking. End of the year is the best time to buy.

If you want great quality and are willing to pay, go to Parklane. They make one of the best and you have a choice of memory foam, none etc. But they don't wheel and deal. And they don't bug you while you are trying out the wares. If you have questions, you go find the salesperson. They let you browse and test as long as you like and provide the pillows. The price you see is what you pay. And they aren't cheap. But it's a great mattress. And they don't make the mattress till you order it. What's really cool is, when they deliver your mattress, they come in two trucks. One to bring the new mattress, one to haul the old one away. It's Parklane's way of insuring your new sex platform doesn't come with bed bugs and other cooties. The guy that delivers your mattress is likely the guy who made it.

And I've found that memory foam usually has Alzheimer's.....

    Hope this helps....

I should try that next time I buy a mattress. Throw in something about how long my mattress from some other store has lasted and that I technically don't need to buy a new one yet. I bet that would get the sales associate stirring!

Ive heard nothing but good from https://casper.com I hear to combat the heat of a foam mattress use slats in place of a box spring so it can breathe.

That said I got a serta icomfort before I heard about Casper and it's pretty comfy. Firm as fuck which I love, but I do get sweaty hot without a fan blowing over me. Im going to ditch the box spring soon for slats to see if it helps as much as I heard. Mine new was about $1100 (floor model discount included) twice the price of a casper.

We did a hybrid: sleep number without the pillow top saves some money and then got a memory foam topper from Costco. Works great (including for amor) and when the topper gets worn you can replace it for a couple of hundred without having to pay for the sleep number again.
