Random or not at this point with Thompson out injured and nobody really knowing what you are going top have in Houston you can't really argue about it.

Right now Lillard and CJ have logged the most minutes together and are probably the best back court in the NBA.

I’d say that most of the talking heads and fans around the NBA would pick Harden and Westbrook as the placeholders until Klay gets back. They are certainly the most physically dominating backcourt in the league, but it remains to be seen as to how they are able to work out the court chemistry. That’s where Dame and CJ excel.

One thing is certain, Dame and CJ are the best Blazers backcourt since Clyde and Terry. That’s an interesting discussion as to which of those duos is better.

the author assumed Klay out of the equations so that eliminated the obvious #1. And John Wall's bumb legs likely knocked Wall/Beal out of consideration...

so yeah, of currently healthy back-courts, Dame/CJ should stand on top with the obvious asterisk in front of Harden/Westbrook. The chemistry of that Houston duo appears highly combustible, but the odds seem much better for implosion than for explosion (either way, watching those two try and mesh should be highly entertaining; if they do somehow magically mesh at a high level...yikes!)

looks like defense was not really factored. If it was, then Middleton/Bledsoe should have been considered. I'm also curious about the Pelicans' back-court. Holiday/Lonzo Ball/JJ Redick/Josh Hart/E'Twaun Moore....that's a lot of size and athleticism as well as established game

one thing about Dame/CJ: while I don't agree that they have developed some great synergy (not stepping on each other's toes only goes so far), the concerns about their sizes has been mitigated a bit. Curry/Russell of the Warriors; Conley/Mitchell of Utah; Murray/Harris of Denver; Fox/Hield of the Kings. Even the Clippers with Beverly/Lou Williams/Shamet. Several of the other Western Conference playoff teams will be running with smaller back-courts most of the time. And few will have a leader of Dame's caliber

I see you studied chemistry under Bob Whitsitt.

Bottom line they are one of the better back courts in the NBA. Whether they are thee best or just top 5......that is good enough.
Now lets focus on the forwards.

    Enlighten me:
Seems like Paul George + Leonard thing makes the Clippers the easy favorite to win it all. What I don't get is how will Harden and Westbrook be better than George and Westbrook, or Harden and Paul? At least on paper, which is all we can do at this point.

The only combo returning that has proven to work is Dame and CJ. The rest is just predictions and to me they don't make sense. Yeah I get it, most of it is just click bait and doesn't mean shit.

    My question is...
Is Whiteside/Nurk the best center rotation in the league?

My guess without a comprehensive look is "yes."

It actually matters to this conversation. If we have the best, or near best backcourt ALONG
with the best center rotation, then as long as the forwards don't completely suck, we should
be going places this year. And no, I don't think our forwards suck, at all.

yeah, it's for back-courts and that narrows the discussion down to a pretty simplistic level. Dame/CJ rank real high in terms of back-courts. They rank quite a bit lower in terms of dual talents...duos...and that has a lot more bearing on contender status

    And your point?
I think the only claim was that they are the best back court. Did I miss something else?

somebody said the 'article' was just clickbait and I was saying why I generally agreed with that assessment.
