Wow. Guess the hoospworld link was wrong. Well isn't there a 4 p.m. press conference today by the Blazers? What is that all about then. You dont hold press conferences to announce that you are not signing someone.
Oh man! Just when we were discussing how it was going to mess up the PG rotation and everything. I guess Sergio still has a chance to pick up garbage minutes. Gramps...
Regardless, I think the longterm plan would be Bayless starts, Blake to the 2nd unit and Roy gets the rest. Sergio really has no future here IMO.
They passed him up to instead sign Shavlik Randolph: http://blog.oregonlive.com/blazers/2008/09/blazers_will_not_sign_shaun_li.html
Not a big fan of Randolph over Livingston, but I guess it's not as if it is likely to matter. Livingston was always an extreme long-shot to become a good player. Would have been an exciting gamble nevertheless.
I thought Livingston was worth the risk. Even if he doesn't have the lateral quickness to play the point, his high basketball IQ and court vision would have been useful at the three. Shavlek Randolph?! If that's the type of player he's looking for, Bring over Joel Freeland.
I feel bad for Shaun. His MRI must have been pretty atrocious for KP to sign Shavlik Randolph over him.
