http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/...eekly-mailbag-including-most-prepared-rookies Best/worst returns on star players traded: Raymond Felton, Al-Farouq Aminu, Chris Kaman, Maurice Harkless, Josh McRoberts, Aaron McKie. (And Zach Randolph.) Rookies most ready to contribute: Zach Collins #6. Players that most exceeded draft expectations since '03: Damian Lillard #5. Players that most under-performed draft expectations since '03: Greg Oden #6, Evan Turner #8, Noah Vonleh #9. At least we didn't draft Adam Morrison (#4). Dodged one there!
None of those players were drafted by our current front office - and he acknowledges Oden's under performance was due to injuries. BNM
When Kawhi is only #10, you know it's a tough list to make. Not important. What's telling is how under-performing two of our key acquisitions have been. One we threw massive money at, and one will be eligible for a foolish contract soon. We should be looking for players who have quietly over-performed...
Though, while Vonleh wasn't drafted by the Blazers, he was acquired in a trade as a raw prospect with only one year of NBA experience--so the Blazers were betting on him as a prospect only a bit less than if they had drafted him.
Sure, there is that, but the two lists pretty accurately capture the good and the bad, respectively. They might over-inflate one way or the other if his stats projected a bit off.
