Since some forums are doing these this offseason and there has been some interest expressed in the lounge, the Magic forum will start its very own debate tournament. There are 12 slots open (first round will have four matches, three debaters per match) and it's first come, first serve. The questions will obviously be Magic related and I encourage you all to participate. There is only the New Jersey Forum debate from what I see, correct me if I'm wrong. But, I'll signup.
Well I think one was proposed in the Rockets forum and the Bulls forum had one last season so maybe that's what I'm thinking of. I edited my first post to some instead of a ton. Thanks for signing up though.
Haha, I'd kill you bro. We all know who the real one and only is. I'm not competing though. I'm just running the tournament. It's not fair if I'm making up the topics and then debating them.

Around the Horn style would be cool but it's very hard to judge with the point totals and it would be much harder feeding topics to the debaters participating. The way we will judge this tournament will be by putting up a poll and letting the users decide who wins. All votes require an explanation though so we know it isn't just based on favoritism. About the ATH thing though, JBB used to have a game called Around the Forum where 4-5 contestants would be selected and given a topic to debate (such as most influential coach, how would you build a new franchise, how has the hip hop culture affected basketball, etc.) It was a really fun game but it was difficult finding new contestants each week and a panel of judges were used along with a poll and it took a lot of time for the judges. We've talked about bringing it back but I'm not sure what's going to happen.

These things are very hard to keep organized though, and to have everyone on at the same time to have a successful debate. My advice is get it started as soon as possible and don't have it drag on too long.
