Wesley Matthews recently had an MRI which revealed, in his words, that his ankle is "messed up."Matthews hurt his ankle in January and aggravated the injury in February (it was called a 'sprain' at the time), but he continued to fight through the pain as Portland worked their way into the playoffs. Whether he needs surgery or not, Matthews should be healthy and ready for the start of training camp. Apr 29, 4:22 PM http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nba/1681/wesley-matthews
and the excuses start flying! Really though it could explain why his shot suffered mightily in the second half of the season compared to the first, or maybe it was Brandon Roy's fault
Wes and Wallace really upped our toughness this year, crucial with Pryzbilla and Dante leaving town. However it's crazy to think how different things were at the beginning of the season, when we actually had 3 tough C's. We used to dominate on the glass. but DAL, OKC, and MEM all finally wised up and got big. I think the difference in the series was us not having someone to BANG with the mavs. We did so little of it everytime we laid so much as a finger on them, the ref's did their thing, and called it like a WNBA game.
exactly. Injuries are a reality in sports... credit is due to Wes for playing through a setback. Dude played all 82 games I'm reminded of a quote from him in an article this past year...“What did I learn about myself when I was at Marquette?” Matthews asked. “That I’m tough as hell.” http://www.columbian.com/news/2011/jan/04/all-the-rage/ STOMP
