Makes sense. WME is all about the money and big matchups. I think in their short track record they don't care about rankings and rightful match ups vs. big sellers. From a business standpoint, I get it. If I were promoting the fight, I'd much rather promote Conor v Nate III over Conor v Ferguson. Nobody knows who Ferguson is outside of die hards. We were always going to get a trilogy fight, so I can't be too angry at this matchup. Sucks for the division and other contenders, but its time to close the book on these two. I don't see how it goes any different than the 2nd fight unless Conor absolutely gasses and gets subbed again. I could see him ending it in TKO fashion this time.
McGregor is supposedly going to give the Ferguson/Lee fight a good look before deciding on whether he wants to re-rematch Diaz or fight the legitimate top contender. It's a major windfall for whoever he chooses to fight. PPV could break his own records for his return fight.
