CHICAGO (AP)—Bulls guard Kirk Hinrich needs surgery to repair a torn ligament in his right thumb and will miss up to three months. The injury occurred during Chicago’s 100-83 victory over Phoenix on Friday. http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=ap-bulls-hinrichout&prov=ap&type=lgns Big blow for the Bulls
Re: OT-Kirk Hinrich needs surgery Not really a big blow. He's only averaging 8 pts and 4 assists, nearly identical production we get from Steve Blake.
Re: OT-Kirk Hinrich needs surgery I just figured it would add fuel to the rumor mill as we seem, at times, to be running a convalescent home so it would naturally make sense for us to want Hinrich even more now! Gramps...
Semi OT- hinrich out 3 months I guess there goes one trade target. though it might be the perfect time to offer Raef and spare change... http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3690513
Re: Semi OT- hinrich out 3 months Maybe this means we already traded for him but just don't know it yet.
Re: Semi OT- hinrich out 3 months Seems to me that Hinrich will get healthy by the deadline and so will Martell Webster, so it could make a fairly decent trade in a couple months. So Kirk+Nocioni+Simmons for Raef+Webster+Blake in a couple months to follow up a Wallace for Outlaw+Sergio+Diogu sort of trade in the near future would put the Blazers in pretty good shape. 1- Hinrich, Bayless 2- Roy, Fernandez 3- Wallace, Batum, Nocioni 4- Aldridge, Nocioni, Frye 5- Oden, Pryz
The injury of Hinrich is good, because it forced Vinny to start Ben Gordon, who was phenomenal in his first start of the year, putting up 29 points. The bad thing is that brings Thabo Sefolosha back into the rotation, and that guy doesn't belong in the NBA.
Re: Semi OT- hinrich out 3 months I don't think a Wallace deal happens without including LaFrentz. If Charlotte deals Wallace for inferior players like Outlaw, Rodriguez and Diogu (or Frye), their reason for doing so would be to get salary savings. Which would require more expiring contract than Diogu or Frye. So, a Chicago deal would need to happen without LaFrentz. Of course, one can't assume the Wallace deal. But LaFrentz can't be involved in both and, if I had to choose one deal to go through, I'd choose the Wallace deal.
Re: Semi OT- hinrich out 3 months I dunno that Charlotte's motivation is savings here. I mean, every team wants to save in a trade, and the Bobcats seem to be relatively cheap, but the motivation to trade here seems to be 1. Larry Brown just doesn't seem to like Wallace 2. They've got no real options at PF 3. Saving money. That is, saving money is probably on the list, but I don't think it's the sole or even primary motivation. I don't think they could afford, for example, to do a major salary dump without completely alienating their already somewhat tenuous fan base. They've shelled out big money for Okafor, Richardson, Wallace, Nazr and Larry Brown and if they make an obvious "tank the season and save money" trade, it's going to undercut that and drive away fans. The other thing I'm reading is that, god help em, they're sort of interested in trading for Eddy Curry. That's not exactly looking to shed salary.
