Chad Ford's: Trade Talk Already Hot and Heavy http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/columns/story?columnist=ford_chad&page=TradeTalk-081015 Excerpt: He's got a few things wrong (Blake and Travis are playing on team options) but you have to wonder if KP is already working the phones.
Re: The Portland Seven?? That's two PGs, two SFs, two PFs, and Raef. My guess is if KP doesn't make any trades before the deadline, Portland keeps one PG, one SF, and one PF.
Re: Chad Ford's: Trade Talk Already Hot and Heavy I have feeling KP is working the phones and seeing what is available but will really start working the phone lines after the first couple months of the season and finding out a little more what we will need.
Re: Chad Ford's: Trade Talk Already Hot and Heavy you edged me out by a minute ... I should have known you'd be on top of it To a mod: Please lock
Re: The Portland Seven?? Man.. Dave on Blazer's Edge had this up months ahead of ESPN about the cap holds and all, big props to him. I would definitely try to keep Webster, Sergio and Frye around, while explore a trade possibility with Travis. Diogu is easily replaceable, I'm sure the team would like to keep Blake around, and Raef, well.. thanks for the expiring contract.
Re: The Portland Seven?? I hate to say it, but Webster's injury could work out to Portland's advantage from a contractual point of view. If it takes him awhile to come back strong from the foot, it's less likely that there will be a great deal of interest from other teams around the league and he might be more amenable to signing a short term deal for "reasonable" terms, in fact I wouldn't be surprised to see him go for a 2 or 3 year deal for something around 4-5 million per year. As for the rest, Blake has a team option and is super cheap at 4 million per year, Travis is also playing on a TO contract, Ike seems pretty expendable and could probably be renounced, Frye sounds like he wants to stay in Portland long term so is probably willing to sign quickly, and it remains to be seen what happens with Sergio. I still think we see Raef moved in a trade this season for the player that KP wants vs. waiting until the Summer when contracts get trickier.
Re: The Portland Seven?? Something tells me that it might not even be for a great player and everyone will groan - but then they will notice that KP also got a couple of draft picks for down the line and he will have some additional great picks in years to come... Sort of like the fact that he got Rudy in the Zach trade and we are going to enjoy that many years down the line.
Re: The Portland Seven?? yeah i have trust in kp to make all this nonsense into one reality. the blazers dominating the league for years!
Re: The Portland Seven?? I think it is safe to say if we are looking to dump salary it will be Frye/Ike + a another RFA or if we want to make our splash at the deadline and not in the FA market, Raef and our 1st would be the main building blocks.
Re: Chad Ford's: Trade Talk Already Hot and Heavy Blake is playing on a team option. Travis is playing on a non guaranteed 3rd year. Big difference because Travis can be traded on draft night without "picking up" his option year
Trade Rumors: The Portland 7 As part of Chad Fords Trade talk collum he basically mentions that anyone but the big 3 is trade fodder come Jan/Feb. I thought we were going to keep Martell but with his injury and more pt being opened up for other players your guess is as good as mine. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/columns/story?columnist=ford_chad&page=TradeTalk-081015
Re: Trade Rumors: The Portland 7 I haven't looked into the possible matching salaries that would be available until right now [some are realistic and some are far-fetched to say the least], but I would like to see LaFrentz and Outlaw packaged together for a veteran SF and/or something along those lines... 1. Granger + Murphy + Daniels = http://games.espn.go.com/nba/featur...2200~2760~1013&teams=11~11~22~22~22&te=&cash= 2. Jefferson + Jones = http://games.espn.go.com/nba/featur...454~2015~1006~406&teams=15~15~22~22&te=&cash= 3. Dunleavy + Daniels = http://games.espn.go.com/nba/featur...54~2015~2200~1708&teams=11~11~22~22&te=&cash= 4. Wallyworld + Pavlovic = http://games.espn.go.com/nba/featur...s=454~2015~2172~831&teams=5~5~22~22&te=&cash= 5. Marion = http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/traderesult?players=454~2015~510&teams=14~14~22&te=&cash=
Re: Trade Rumors: The Portland 7 I like the idea of trading for Marion since it would let us test drive him for some of the season before having to extend his contract next summer. He's easily the best fit in terms of offense/defense and veteran savvy this team needs.
Re: Trade Rumors: The Portland 7 ...do you really think Marion would be a better fit than Granger and/or Jefferson though???
Re: Trade Rumors: The Portland 7 I don't think we'd be able to aquire Granger as they are trying to build around him and i dont like Jefferson as a player on this team. Mike Dudlevy may be a possiblility but Id like a better defender at the 3 than him.
Re: The Portland Seven?? ...they need to start printing Blazer bucks memorabilia with this inscribed on them!!!
