"Ok, here's the deal. We've got to double Oden whenever he gets the ball anywhere in the paint. Otherwise it's a dunk. We're going to put our best defender on him. Now Roy is the key to their offense, so don't let him penetrate on you, or shoot or pass. We'll be putting our best defender on him. Also watch this Fernandez guy. Play him for the pass, unless he's on the perimeter in which case play him for the pass or the shot or the dribble drive. Also, although he's scrawny he's a heck of a passer out of the post, and also watch him on the lob. We're going to put our best defender on him. Next you've got Aldridge, who is really limited to just scoring from the midrange or on the block or every once in a while from three. He'll be seeing a lot of our best defender. Webster you don't have to worry about, except from three and maybe on the dish and dunk. Don't cheat off him too much because he just needs a foot or two of space to hit that three. Bayless is a waterbug who loves contact. Think Wade-lite. Outlaw seems to just do his own thing. He's a one-on-one guy, but it seems to work for them because they have so many team players that when he does it it'll kind of surprise you. Przybilla isn't going to score, but at some point in the game two or three of you are going to get knocked down by him. Pretend it doesn't hurt, or it'll just encourage him. That's about it. These guys weren't even a playoff team last year, so it should be an easy win." "Uh, coach?" "Yeah?" "Przybilla can't hit a three, can he?" "Nope. That's about as close as they have to an Achiles heel."
Mooksie, there's a lot to what you say. Decent NBA players can hit an open jump shot. If Oden continues to draw double teams, we should really be able to make teams pay. Both Rudy & Roy are very good passers for SG's and by making that "extra pass" combined with Oden being double teamed makes us so much more potent. Also, if Outlaw & Webster can learn to move better without the ball..... zowie.
