Let's see now. You take your best player, an Olympian and All-Star, and trade him for a probable future Hall of Famer. Then you let that guy leave as a free agent. You take your next best player, a guy who'll probably be an All-Star this season, and trade him for reserves and seemingly failed extra pieces. You, of course, already had traded your other top player who'd helped you get within a jumper of the NBA Finals a few years back. And then you run out your coach, one of the winningest in the league.

And then you get much better.

    Meet the 2003-04 Milwaukee Bucks.

There have been a lot of great team stories around the NBA this season: The evolution of the Minnesota Timberwolves, the revitalization of the Denver Nuggets, the resolve of the Utah Jazz, the recovery of the Miami Heat, the reality of the Memphis Grizzlies. But perhaps the best story is the restructuring of the Milwaukee Bucks.

And not only is it one of the major surprises in the NBA, but the Bucks' plan may serve as one of the prime models for NBA rebuilding.

It's a classic case of the lack of ego and pretense, combined with good ol' hard work, showing you can have success in pro sports.</div>
