I know that he's currently day-to-day, but I have been frustrated that Seth Curry is not getting more minutes. Just plug him in as the starter at SF! At least give it a shot. After all: https://fansided.com/2018/11/16/fun-fact-friday-best-shooter-curry-family/ and
Or, if you don't want to disrupt a bench that's working great, play him exactly as many minutes as Evan Turner. The only possible reason not to is if he's still on a minutes restriction because of coming back from injury. He's our best +/- guy (per 48):
(This is part of the reason I didn't like the Stauskas signing, coming less than a week after the Curry signing. Sure Stauskas is taller, but not enough so he's really any better at SF, and it just means they compete for minutes. Sign a REAL SF.)
I like having both. Sauce can put it on the floor and create. Curry can be the guy Sauce passes to. We need both.
It's a long season. Can't have too much depth and you can never have too much shooting. Besides, I know Turner is getting most of the 2nd unit ball handling duties, but in terms of roster spots, I viewed Stauskas as a Connaughton replacement and Curry as a Bazz replacement. BNM
This is another example of the stats not telling the whole story. Curry hasn't been "right" so far this year. It's not that he doesn't have talent but I think he's still getting used to playing again after being out a year. Based on play alone I would actually say he needs to be playing less right now, not more, but I also recognize that getting minutes is probably the best way for him to get going later on in the season. Letting him take his lumps early on is a trade off I'm willing to take plus he's shooting 50% from 3 so he has some value. As for starting him at SF, last game Aminu was guarding LeBron so that would leave Curry on Kuzma. Do you like that matchup for him? Stauskas agreed to sign several days before Curry did so I don't get this statement at all.
Tonight: Curry: +13 in 23 minutes Dame: -13 in 41 minutes CJ: -8 in 36 minutes ET: -3 in 27 minutes I rest my case.
He plays about the same amount of minutes as Curry yet averages almost double the points. Also more assists, steals, better TS %, a better ORTG, DRTG, and a PER of 15 compared to Curry’s wonderful 5.5. I rest my case.
No not that Meyers, silly. The Meyers who was on the floor in the first half when Curry single-handedly carried the team to a plus 13
And Meyers wasn't responsible for the third quarter meltdown, either. He didn't do much, but he's not the one who tanked the quarter. The starters plus Turner let the Clips back into the game, and the starters plus Turner continued their shitty play in the third quarter.
Was he? 3rd Quarter: 0:650 - Leonard Substitution replaced by Collins: Blazers winning 62-58 02:17 - Aminu Substitution replaced by Leonard: Blazers losing 76-68 So, in the 4 minutes and 33 seconds Meyers was on the bench during the third quarter, the Blazers went from winning by 4 to losing by 8, a -12 point swing. Seems like the bulk of the 3rd quarter meltdown came with Meyers on the bench. BNM
