    LAST WEEK'S HIGHLIGHTS

    vs. Springfield (1/15): The Manchester Monarchs fell to left wing Jonathan Audy-Marchessault's hat trick and the Springfield Falcons, 7-5, at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Tuesday night. The Monarchs received goals from center Andy Andreoff, left wing Marc-Andre Cliche, center Robbie Czarnik and defenseman Nick Deslauriers. Springfield also registered goals from center Michael Chaput (two), right wing Tomas Kubalik and left wing Wade MacLeod. Monarchs goaltender Peter Mannino (9-5-0) made eight saves on 11 shots in the first period. Monarchs netminder Jean-Francois Berube (0-1-0) took his first loss of the season stopping 13-of-17 shots in relief of Mannino. Falcons netminder Allen York (3-3-0) earned his third victory of the season making 22 saves on 27 shots. Manchester went 1-for-5 on the power play. Springfield was 2-for-2 with the man advantage.

    @ Worcester (1/18): Center Jordan Weal scored in the third period and broke a tied game to lead the Manchester Monarchs to a 3-1 victory over the Worcester Sharks at the DCU Center on Friday night. The Monarchs also received goals from center Linden Vey and right wing Tyler Toffoli. Center Jon Matsumoto scored the lone goal for the Sharks. Monarchs goaltender Martin Jones (9-13-2) earned his ninth victory of the season stopping 28-of-29. Sharks goaltender Harri Sateri (7-9-1) took his ninth loss of the season making 17 saves on 20 shots. Manchester went 0-for-1 on the power play. Worcester was 0-for-2 with the man advantage.

    vs. Providence (1/18): The Manchester Monarchs honored the Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings in a pre-game banner ceremony and defeated the Providence Bruins, 3-1, at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Saturday night. Defenseman David Kolomatis, right wing Brandon Kozun and right wing Stefan Legein scored for the Monarchs. Right wing Jamie Tardif scored the lone goal for the Bruins. Monarchs goaltender Peter Mannino (10-5-0) earned his 10th victory of the season stopping 45-of-46 shots. Providence netminder Michael Hutchinson (4-9-1) took his ninth loss of the season making 24 saves on 26 shots. Manchester went 0-for-4 on the power play. Providence was 0-for-8 with the man advantage.

    @ Portland (1/20): Center Jordan Weal tallied two goals to lead the Manchester Monarchs to victory over the Portland Pirates, 5-2, in game seven of the VIP Cup, presented by VIP Parts, Tires & Service, at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Sunday afternoon. The Monarchs lead the rivalry series 4-3. Center Andy Andreoff, left wing Marc-Andre Cliche and left wing David Meckler also scored for the Monarchs. Left wing Darien Dziurzynski and defenseman Brandon Gormley registered goals for the Pirates. Monarchs goaltender Martin Jones (10-13-2) earned his 10th victory of the season stopping 29-of-31 shots. Pirates netminder Chad Johnson (14-8-0) took his eighth loss of the season making 25 saves on 30 shots. Manchester went 1-for-4 on the power play. Portland was 1-for-6 with the man advantage.

    The Portland Pirates (24-15-1-1) sit in first place in the Atlantic Division with 50 points. The Manchester Monarchs (20-17-2-2) are in second place in the division with 44 points. The Providence Bruins (20-15-0-3) rank third in the division with 43 points. The Worcester Sharks (19-17-1-3) are in fourth place in the division with 42 points. The St. John's IceCaps (18-20-1-2) sit in fifth place in the division with 39 points.

    Toffoli tallied his second hat trick of the season and second against the Pirates in a 5-3 victory on Saturday, December 22.

    Toffoli has eight goals in seven games against the Pirates this season, which also leads all VIP Cup skaters.

    Meckler tallied his first goal of the season in a 5-2 victory against the Pirates on Sunday, January 20.

    Meckler's goal was his 75th of his Monarchs career ranking second on the franchise all-time list.

    Meckler holds the franchise record for games played with 362 in a Monarchs uniform. Meckler's 350th game came against the Pirates on Sunday, November 25.

    Defenseman Vincent LoVerde (0-1=1) is ranked 24th on the Monarchs with one point.

    Right wing Justin Johnson (0-0=0) has 10 penalty minutes in 7 games this season. Last season, Johnson had 187 penalty minutes in 41 games.

    Goaltender Martin Jones (10-13-2) has a 2.52 goals-against-average, a 0.916 save percentage and has stopped 672-of-734 shots attempted in 25 games this season.

    Jones appeared in his 100th game in a Monarchs uniform in a 3-2 shootout loss against the Springfield Falcons on Sunday, December 16.

    MONARCHS PROMOTIONS

    Pink In The Rink - The Monarchs Care Foundation and the Catholic Medical Center are once again teaming up to raise awareness and money in the fight against breast cancer at their third annual Pink In The Rink game. Join the Monarchs when they host the Providence Bruins at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 9 to support the cause. The night will feature pink ice and specialty pink jerseys that will be auctioned off after the game's conclusion.
