<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">After losing five straight and 14 of their last 17, the Los Angeles Clippers fired Alvin Gentry on Monday and named Dennis Johnson interim coach for the remainder of the season.

An announcement from the team is expected later Monday.

Gentry has been under fire all season with the Clippers, tabbed by most experts as a playoff contender. Los Angeles stumbled to a 5-10 start and progressively faded from contention in the West.

Johnson, passed over for the job in the summer of 2000 when Gentry was hired, will make his head coaching debut to night at Staples Center when Los Angeles plays host to the New Orleans Hornets.

It wasnt the coach's fault. It was Donald Sterlings fault. If he settled the contracts and everythin the clips would be doin good rite noe.

Well some of the fault had to go to Gentry. The clips are one of the dissapointments this season.
